Ingredients
-
1 You Knead Sourdough loaf
- 200g leftover Christmas ham (or any sliced ham)
- 20 sage leaves
Cheese Filling
-
200ml crème fraîche
-
4 tsp Dijon mustard
- 2 tbsp chopped chives
-
100g grated tasty cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Method
Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan).
To make the cheese filling, combine the crème fraîche, Dijon mustard, chives, and grated cheese in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper, then mix until smooth and well combined. Set aside.
Using a serrated knife, cut deep slices across your sourdough loaf every 5cm. Be careful not to cut all the way through.
Spoon the cheese mixture into each cut, then tuck slices of ham and sage leaves throughout the loaf.
Wrap the loaf tightly in foil and place on a baking tray. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is gooey, the bread is crisp, and everything smells irresistible.
Serve warm, pull apart, and enjoy!

Perfect for using up leftover ham, impressing guests, or elevating your next weekend lunch.
Hot tip: If you manage to have any leftovers from this loaf, whisk some eggs, dip slices into the egg mixture and fry up some indulgent french toast!
